New Programmes

The Department has currently been given accreditation to run two programmes in Education – the Postgraduate Diploma and Master of Education for graduates in all academic disciplines who want to enter the teaching profession.  The duration is two (2) semesters for the Postgraduate Diploma and three (3) semesters for the Master of Education.  These two programmes would be run under the Distance Education model in the University.  Both programmes would begin very soon.

The Department has re-introduced ATE 256 Introduction to Art therapy which is taken by undergraduate students at the Faculty of Art.  The Department is also in the process of finalizing the Curriculum Proposals of Undergraduate Art Education Programme.

Undergraduate Service Courses

The Department also offers Introductory Courses in Art Education, African Art, Art History, Art Therapy, Research Methodology and Thesis Writing to first, second and third year undergraduate students in the Faculty of Art. It is the only Teacher Education Department in the University.
